Dual Credit, Early College, Home School, and Early Admissions

Northeast Lakeview College provides pathways for eligible high school students, grades 9-12, to take college-level courses concurrent with high school academic requirements.  To determine eligibility, high school students from public, charter, private, and home schools, must meet enrollment and placement requirements.

Traditional Dual Credit ISD/Charter/Private

Traditional dual credit is an option for eligible high school students in the Alamo Colleges District service area. Partnership with public, private, or charter schools must be established to ensure dual credit courses are available.  The 42-Hour Core Curriculum provides course selection availability for dual credit participants. 

Students may contact their school counselor to confirm dual credit availability or may visit Alamo Colleges District High School Programs for additional information.

ISD/Charter/Private School Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate with Northeast Lakeview College High School Programs staff to establish Dual Credit Information Sessions.
  2. Organize dates for completion of ApplyTexas and AlamoENROLL modules (via ACES ).
  3. Inform prospective dual credit students about completing the TSI Placement Exam (writing, essay, reading, and math) and qualifying scores.
  4. Schedule students for TSI Placement Exam to include all subjects; writing, essay, reading, and math.
  5. Complete and submit the required forms to Northeast Lakeview College High School Programs office:

All enrollment documents must be submitted by the deadline noted on the Admissions and Enrollment Calendar to ensure timely registration.  Student registration is processed by College personnel.

Dual Credit Home School

Traditional dual credit is an option for eligible homeschooled students in the Alamo Colleges District service area.  The student will sit in on mixed classes on the college sites and or online through the Distance Learning Program.  The 42-Hour Core Curriculum provides course selection availability for dual credit participants. 

Dual Credit Home School Enrollment Process:

  1. Complete ApplyTexas application online.
  2. Submit official high school transcript, notarized, with an expected graduation date.
  3. If applicable - submit official test scores (ACT, SAT, PSAT, TSI).
  4. Complete AlamoENROLL Modules via ACES.
  5. Schedule and complete the TSI Placement Exam.  Official qualifying ACT, SAT, PSAT, and TSI scores may exempt the student from the TSI Placement Exam, contact the High School Programs office for additional information.

Once the above steps are complete, an onboarding session for new dual credit participants is required. Onboarding sessions are typically available during the registration period. Check with the High School Programs Office for available dates.

Early College High School

Early College High Schools (ECHS) are located within a traditional high school or on college campus or in close proximity to a college campus.  This educational model allows students to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and an associate degree or a substantial number of transferrable college credits toward a bachelor’s degree.

Early Admissions

Early Admissions is an option for rising 11th-12th grade students interested in obtaining college credit while completing high school graduation requirements (does not qualify as dual enrollment). Applicants must meet the enrollment and placement requirements below.

Early Admissions Enrollment Process:

  1. Complete ApplyTexas application online as an “Early Admissions” applicant. Contact the High School Programs office 3-5 business days from the application date.
  2. Complete the Early Admission Recommendation and Parent Form which includes recommendations from the High School counselor or designee and parent. Email the completed form to nlc-hsprograms@sanmingzhi.net.
  3. Submit an official non-final high school transcript
    • Submission options include: mailed directly from the school or homeschooling parent, sealed in an envelope and hand-delivered to High School Programs office, or emailed from a school official to nlc-hsprograms@sanmingzhi.net
  4. Schedule and complete the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) placement exam or submit qualifying scores (PSAT, SAT, ACT)
  5. Complete AlamoENROLL Modules via ACES.
  6. Submit proof of Bacterial Meningitis vaccination via ACES

Requirements for Early Admissions Students:

  • Responsible for all tuition and fees based on residency classification.
  • Must demonstrate college-level ability in the subject area(s) requested. Review Common Entry Requirements
  • Must adhere to Bacterial Meningitis requirements.
  • Cannot participate in both Dual Credit and Early Admit at the same time.
  • The maximum combined class load must not exceed eighteen (18) semester credit hours (each high school class is equivalent to one three-hour college class).
  • Official transcripts will not be released until the NLC Admissions Office receives the student's official high school transcript affixed with the graduation date, appropriate seals, and signatures
